"Mid-june Monologue How to achieve effective immigration law enforcement"

Hi Gang:

As you likely know I have been conducting a series of interviews for my website www.TalkBorder.com at AND Magazine and providing a video of the interviews in an effort to provide information about the various aspects of the immigration crisis that is not being adequately reported on (if at all) by the news media.

This past Wednesday, June 13, 2012 I decided to not conduct an interview but to simply sit in front of the cameras at the studio where we produce my program and have a “one on one” conversation with my audience to draw upon my four decades of experience where the enforcement and administration of our immigration laws are concerned and provide my perspectives on what is needed to enable the immigration system carry out its mission of protecting American lives and American jobs.

Of course, as I sat in front of those cameras, I had no idea that in less than 48 hours President Obama would step in front of a forest of microphones and television cameras in the White House rose garden and incredibly, turn immigration enforcement on its ear! However, in considering what I had to say in this video, I hope you come away with an understanding that our immigration system can be made to work effectively. Let me add, it must be made to work effectively because, as I have noted so many times in the past, immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts virtually every significant challenge and threat that our nation faces.

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The Founding Fathers understood that in order for our nation to have a true democratic process, the citizens had to be guaranteed the right of conducting debates, discussions and, if need be, arguments, provided that all such encounters were done “peaceably.” This is why the right of the people to peaceably assemble is noted in the First Amendment. Back then the only way to have those discussions was face to face.

Today we suffer from a form of censorship that is imposed by various groups who take the position that if anyone disagrees with them, they are the enemy!

Nothing could be further from the truth! The discourse called for in the First Amendment is literally “As American as Apple Pie!”

This is one of the primary reasons I have created my program on AND Magazine to provide information that is all too often not being provided by traditional news programs.

It is my goal, as the Senior Immigration Editor for AND Magazine, to provide perspectives and information about the immigration crisis and related areas of concern, that are not being provided anywhere else.

The first step in problem solving is to acknowledge that a problem exists.

If you like what you find at my website, I ask that you forward the link to as many folks as possible and ask them to do the same- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”

If our government’s failures to secure our nation’s borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!
