Today, Monday, August 25th, I will be a guest on a television news program (America’s Forum- hosted by JD Hayworth), will be a guest on Sam Sorbo’s radio program.  Please forward this e-mail to as many folks as you can and ask them, in turn, to do the same- I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”

First, at 9:00 AM, Eastern Daylight Saving Time, I will be appearing on the television news program, “America’s Forum” hosted by JD Hayworth on NewsMax Television to discuss the national security implications of failures of the the immigration system.  

While the ongoing immigration crisis along the US/Mexican border has captured a huge amount of attention over the past several weeks- the United States has been inundated with illegal aliens for many years and they are not only arriving by running the US/Mexican border.  Furthermore, there are other failures of the immigration system that the leaders of both the Democratic and Republican Parties are not only utterly ignoring but their “solutions” would exacerbate the threats we face because of these failures.  

I do not believe most of these politicians want to endanger our national security but they are either fools are so focused on pleasing their respective party leadership and garnering massive campaign contributions- the “Mother milk of political campaigns” that they have thrown caution to the wind, our citizens under the bus and commonsense out the window! 

No less an authority than the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has made clear that our immigration system’s failures threaten our nation.

On August 22, 2014 CNS News.com posted a disturbing report with a clear headline: 

“Joint Chiefs Chair: ‘Open Borders and Immigration Issues’ Make ISIL ‘Immediate Threat.’ “

One day earlier, on Thursday, August 21, 2014 the Houston Chronicle published this disturbing report that quoted Texas Governor Rick Perry:

To provide a bit of background- JD was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives when, in November 2001, I accepted an invitation from then Congressman Tom Tancredo to provide testimony to the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus which Tom chaired at the time.  The topic for the hearing was the failures of the immigration system that enabled the 9/11 Terrorists to enter the United States and embed themselves in the United States as they went about their deadly preparations.  JD was a member of that caucus and he attended that hearing.  It is always great joining him on his television program on NewsMax-TV.

The first paragraph of the preface of the The 9/11 Commission Staff Report on Terrorist Travel  begins with the following statement:

It is perhaps obvious to state that terrorists cannot plan and carry out attacks in the United

States if they are unable to enter the country. Yet prior to September 11, while there were

efforts to enhance border security, no agency of the U.S. government thought of border

security as a tool in the counterterrorism arsenal. Indeed, even after 19 hijackers

demonstrated the relative ease of obtaining a U.S. visa and gaining admission into the

United States, border security still is not considered a cornerstone of national security

policy. We believe, for reasons we discuss in the following pages, that it must be made

one.

The 9/11 Commission Staff Report on Terrorist travel went on to detail numerous examples of instances where terrorists not only made use of visa and immigration benefit fraud to enter the United States but to also embed themselves in the United States. Page 47 of this report noted:

Once terrorists had entered the United States, their next challenge was to find a way to remain here. Their primary method was immigration fraud. For example, Yousef and Ajaj concocted bogus political asylum stories when they arrived in the United States. Mahmoud Abouhalima, involved in both the World Trade Center and landmarks plots, received temporary residence under the Seasonal Agricultural Workers (SAW) program, after falsely claiming that he picked beans in Florida.

This paragraph is found on page 98 under the title “Immigration Benefits:”

“Terrorists in the 1990s, as well as the September 11 hijackers, needed to find a way to stay in or embed themselves in the United States if their operational plans were to come to fruition. As already discussed, this could be accomplished legally by marrying an American citizen, achieving temporary worker status, or applying for asylum after entering. In many cases, the act of filing for an immigration benefit sufficed to permit the alien to remain in the country until the petition was adjudicated. Terrorists were free to conduct surveillance, coordinate operations, obtain and receive funding, go to school and learn English, make contacts in the United States, acquire necessary materials, and execute an attack.”
