"Bin Laden, The 9/11 Commission Report and Immigration" – My article for CAPS

America’s immigration laws were enacted to achieve two primary goals- protect innocent lives and the jobs of American workers. While just about every politician promises to create jobs, the reality is that our nation will never create enough good jobs to get America back on track when our nation admits many more foreign workers who are lawfully entitled to work in the United States, than the number of new jobs that are created.

Furthermore, as the candidates for the 2016 Presidential election make their statements, it is clear that thus far, not one candidate has called for cutting the foreign workforce in America- but expanding it! This is nuts and causes more Americans to lose their jobs and wages to continue to decline, while remittances- the money wired home by foreign workers will continue to increase further adding to our national debt.

The focus of my most recent commentary for CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) is the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound four years ago and what some of the documents seized should teach all of us, especially our nation’s leaders. What is stunning is how the media has failed to play that old game of “Connect the dots.” My mom taught me that if I wanted something done right, I had to do it myself- so I have taken it upon myself to connect the dots in my article. You may want to forward this to your elected representatives and try to wake them from their slumber!

Our borders and our immigration laws constitute America’s first line of defense and last line of defense against international terrorist organizations and transnational gangs and criminal organizations. For decades politicians from both the Democratic and Republican parties have thrown their oaths of office, commonsense and morality to the wind for campaign contributions.

ISIS continues its murderous rampage across the Middle East and the administration refuses to accept how serious this situation is. The reality is that terrorists would love nothing better than to carry out a major attack in the United States. Bin Laden, as you will see in my commentary, apparently understood the true significance of the immigration system in achieving his objectives than our “leaders” understand how no matter how much they may claim otherwise- immigration, the threat of international terrorism and national security are all inextricably intertwined.

Consequently, rather than seeing in our borders and immigration laws an important weapon in the war on terror, all too many politicians and this administration in particular, see political gains to be had along with opportunities to curry favor with those who have deep pockets and over-flowing checkbooks. They have turned that important weapon on America and Americans, flooding our nation with aliens from nearly every country on the planet to provide more tourists, more foreign students and more cheap labor.

If ever their was a time for Americans to get off their sofas and get involved, this is the time and this particular case is an important issue that needs to be addressed. Politicians love to take to the floor of the House and the Senate to thump the podium and their chests demanding action be taken. It is time to call them on it! Every member of the House and Senate should be demanding that our immigration laws be used for us and not against us, We the People!

I have come to compare the issue of securing the US/Mexican border with a wing on an airplane. Without the wing, the airplane will not, of course, fly. However, a wing by itself goes absolutely nowhere! We have 50 border states and the key issue is to address the abject lack of integrity to entire immigration system.

This is not a new problem, on July 13, 2011 the Washington Times published a truly disturbing article:

“Visas reviewed to find those who overstayed / Aim is to find any would-be terrorists

The importance of our borders and our immigration laws cannot be overemphasized. In the war on terror and transnational gangs, they are our first line of defense and our last line of defense against international terrorists and transnational criminals. They are equally important to American workers who are facing unfair competition from foreign workers, aided and abetted by the administration and advocates for “Sanctuary Cities” and Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

The starting point for any conversation or legislation concerning immigration must be the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission which determined that a lack of border security, including the visa process. and fraud in the immigration benefits program enabled terrorists to enter and embed themselves in the United States, as they went about their deadly preparations.

In his historic speech before the 3rd Army on May 31, 1944, General George S. Patton said, on the strategy of holding a position:

“We’re not holding anything, we’ll let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly, and we’re not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy.”

Pushing back against Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the same as holding position. The time has come for us to advance by demanding that our borders be made truly secure and our immigration laws be effectively administered and enforced.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform violates all of the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission but no one is willing to even consider how the lack of real border security and the lack of real integrity to the various components of the immigration system imperil national security and public safety.

Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today! Simply stated, the immigration laws were enacted to save lives and protect the jobs of American workers.

It is not “Anti-Immigrant” to be “Pro-American!”

Our armed forces are charged with securing America’s borders externally while the DHS is supposed to secure those same borders from within. The failures of the DHS to live up to its half of the equation are undermining the efforts, valor and incredible sacrifices of Americas men and women who serve in our military!

If our government’s failures to protect American jobs by securing our nation’s borders and effectively enforcing our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!
