On the radio Tuesday, February 14th on Helen Glover Show at 8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time

Hi Gang:

Later today, Tuesday, February 14th I will, as I usually do on Tuesday mornings, from 8:00 AM until, 8:30 AM Eastern Standard Time, be a guest on the excellent Helen Glover Show which is broadcast on Providence, Rhode Island’s Radio Station, WHJJ.

You can listen to Helen’s show online at:

Today we will discuss the announcement of the Obama administration to create the position of “Public Advocate” at ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to help illegal aliens.  Incredibly the administration refers to the illegal aliens as “stake holders!”

A copy of the news release that was issued by ICE is attached below.  Meanwhile, on February 8, 2012, the Washington Times published an article entitled:

Border Patrol union decries hiring of immigrant ‘public advocate’

It is incredible that the administration refers to illegal aliens as “stakeholders” while ignoring the will of the vast majority of the citizens of the United States who are the real “stakeholders!”  This is reminiscent of the attitude of the former Commissioner of the old INS, (Immigration and Naturalization Service) Doris Meissner- back when I worked for the INS.  She demanded that the INS be “customer oriented.”  Actually I agreed with Ms Meissner on this concept- however, she believed that our “customers” were illegal aliens while my colleagues and I believed that our customers were the citizens of the United States!

Our immigration laws have two fundamental goals, to protect American lives and to protect American jobs- yet the administration continues to focus on how aliens who violate our borders and our laws can be provided with all sorts of opportunities to achieve the goals that drove most of these foreign nationals to evade the critically important inspections process, while hammering any city or state that would dare to promulgate their own immigration laws to fill the void created by the Obama administration that refuses to effectively enforce these very same laws!

I have written a commentary about this issue for the CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) website that will probably be posted on that website, later this week.  Here is a link to the CAPS website:

Helen and I will discuss this and other issues that threaten the safety and well being of our citizens, lawful immigrants and our nation.

I hope you will listening to Helen’s terrific show!

The practice of good citizenship does not end in the voting booth, it only begins there.

The collective failure of We the People to get involved in make our concerns known to our politicians have nearly made the concerns of the great majority of the citizens of this nation all but irrelevant to the politicians.  I implore you to get involved!

I believe our nation’s is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world.  However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda!

I also believe that the original purpose of our nation’s immigration laws need to be be brought “front and center” to make certain that our nation does not permit the entry of aliens into our country whose presence in our country is problematic for the citizens of our nation and that if such aliens do succeed in entering our country that our nation have the resources, integrity and dedication to do everything possible to make it impossible for such aliens to function within our country so that even if they are not apprehended, they will find it pointless to remain in the United States.
As I have noted on a number of occasions, “No one would break into the amusement park if they could not get to go on the rides and no one remains in the amusement park at the end of the day when they turn shut down the rides and turn off the lights!”

If our government’s failures to secure our nation’s borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

ICE announces creation of Public Advocate position

WASHINGTON — As part of the agency’s ongoing detention reform
and other enforcement-related initiatives, U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) today announced its first Public Advocate, ICE Senior
Advisor Andrew Lorenzen-Strait. Lorenzen-Strait will serve as a point
of contact for individuals, including those in immigration proceedings,
non-governmental organizations and other community and advocacy groups,
who have concerns, questions, recommendations or other issues they would
like to raise.

“As our first Public Advocate, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait will work to
expand and enhance our dialogue with the stakeholder community,” said
ICE Director John Morton. “We want the public to know that they have a
representative at this agency whose sole duty is to ensure their voice
is heard and their interests are recognized, and I’m confident Andrew
will serve the community well in this capacity.”

Lorenzen-Strait has served with ICE since 2008, first as an advisor
and analyst on policies related to immigration enforcement, detention
and juveniles and most recently, as the senior advisor for Enforcement
and Removal Operation’s (ERO) detention management division. In 2007,
Lorenzen-Strait was named the Maryland Attorney of the Year for
providing pro bono services to Community Legal Services of Prince
George’s County.

In his new role as Public Advocate, Lorenzen-Strait will report directly to ERO Director Gary Mead and will be responsible for:

  • Assisting individuals and community stakeholders in addressing and
resolving complaints and concerns in accordance with agency policies
and operations, particularly concerns related to ICE enforcement actions
    involving U.S. citizens;
  • Informing stakeholders on ERO policies, programs and initiatives, and enhance understanding of ERO’s mission and core values;
  • Engaging stakeholders and building partnerships to facilitate
communication, foster collaboration and solicit input on immigration
    enforcement initiatives and operations; and
  • Advising ICE leadership on stakeholder findings, concerns,
recommendations and priorities as they relate to improving immigration
    enforcement efforts and activities.

The creation of the Public Advocate position is another milestone is
ICE’s ongoing work to enact significant policy changes and improvements
to focus the agency’s immigration enforcement resources on sensible
priorities that promote public safety, border security and the integrity
of the immigration system. In addition to implementing policies and
processes that ensure discretion is used in deciding the types of
individuals ICE prioritizes for removal from the country, the agency has
also embarked upon a long-term detention reform initiative. These
reform efforts are focused on prioritizing the health and safety of
detainees in our custody while increasing federal oversight and
improving the conditions of confinement within the detention system.

ICE will continue to analyze its policies and the results of its
programs, making improvements where necessary to meet our priorities.
