"Fast Track to Anarchy"

Hi Gang:

My commentary today is based on a recent article I wrote for CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization).  That article addressed the recent decision of Charlie Beck, the Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department has announced plans to ignore a California state law that mandates that vehicles driven by unlicensed motorists would be impounded.  He claimed that to enforce that law would be “unfair” to illegal aliens who need their cars to go to their jobs!

Charlie Beck is apparently more concerned about what is unfair where illegal aliens are concerned than where the lives of the public is concerned!

Let us take a moment to step back and give some serious thought to the view taken by the Chief Beck.

First of all, law enforcement officers and other public officials take an oath that they will, among other things, enforce the laws that are under their jurisdiction.  A law book must never, ever be confused with a menu in a restaurant.  When we go out to eat we pick and chose what food we will order and consume.  It would be extremely unusual for a patron in a restaurant to select every possible item on the menu and then attempt to eat those items unless, perhaps this was being done for some sort of bizarre “reality show!”

In the reality show of real life laws are all supposed to be enforced by law enforcement officers.  This is not about the personal preferences of law enforcement officers or their superiors but about simply enforcing the laws as they exist.  Hence it would certainly appear that Chief Beck is not willing to live up to his oath of office and is not only violating his oath of office but is about to require all police officers under his command to similarly ignore their oaths of office.

Next we must consider why we have immigration laws in the first place.  Those laws are intended to prevent the entry and continued presence of aliens in our country who pose a variety of problems that deal with everything from national security and community safety to issues relating to economic issues and jobs.

To substantiate this point, please consider that Title 8, United States Code, Section 212 enumerates the various categories of aliens who are to be excluded from the United States.

Next you should consider that one of the purposes of our immigration laws is to protect the jobs of American workers.  This is a particularly significant issue given the extraordinarily high unemployment rate that has driven so many American workers out of not only their jobs but their homes as they lose their homes to foreclosure.  The way that the immigration laws are supposed to protect the jobs of American and lawful immigrant workers is to seek to remove illegal aliens from the workforce.  Contrast this important goal of the immigration laws with Chief Beck who bemoans the fact that by taking the cars of unlicensed illegal aliens that these illegal aliens will make it difficult for them to go to work!

Finally, public safety should trump all other considerations.  Again, this issue is obviously not particularly important to Chief Beck.  Perhaps he should take a moment to check out the police cars being driven by the police officers who operate under his command.  Here is photo of the door of one of those cars:

Chief Beck might also want to take a moment and review the Mission Statement of the LAPD:

The Mission Statement of the LAPD

It is the mission of the Los Angeles Police Department to
safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the
incidence and fear of crime, and to enhance public safety while working
with the diverse communities to improve their quality of life. Our
mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times
conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain
public confidence.
The point is that public safety is supposed to be the priority of the LAPD.  By not enforcing the laws that are supposed to deter unlicensed motorists from driving cars on public roads, thereby endangering the lives of those around the cars being driven by unlicensed drivers, a mockery is being made of the laws and the mission of the LAPD.

This sends a very clear and dangerous message to illegal aliens living in California and to foreign nationals who might be contemplating running our nation’s borders to head for California- you can live and work in California with impunity!  Not only illegal aliens be able to get away with violating the laws- our law enforcement officers are willing to ignore our laws to accommodate illegal aliens!
Show me a politician who refuses to enforce the immigration laws or attempts to trivialize these laws, and I will show you a politician who needs to find out what it is like to stand on the unemployment line!

Benjamin Franklin, in discussing our then fledgeling nation, said that they had given us a republic if we could keep it!

What he was making clear was that this democratic republic required that its citizens take their citizenship seriously and keep the political leaders accountable.

It is time for the citizens of our nation to make certain that our nation’s leaders, on all levels, to come to terms with the fundamental fact that the purpose of our immigration laws is to protect our nation and our citizens from aliens whose presence has the potential to have a serious adverse impact.  Ignoring those laws exposes our nation and our citizens to a variety of serious threats and challenges ranging from national security and criminal justice and public safety to the economy, the environment, healthcare and education!

A country without secure borders can no more stand than can a house without walls!

I

our country is to survive and if our children and their children are to get their share of the “American Dream” the citizens of this nation must take their citizenship seriously!

We the People must be the best citizens we can be, citizens who are worthy of the gallantry demonstrated by our valiant men and women in the military, law enforcement and firefighters, who routinely go in harm’s way in defense of this nation and our citizens.
My goal in writing this and other commentaries is to point out our nations many failings before more victims pay the ultimate price for the incompetence and ineptitude of our government.
The first step in problem-solving is to first identify the problems and vulnerabilities and then devise strategies to overcome them.

If you find yourself to be in agreement with this commentary, I ask that you forward it to as many of your friends and family members as possible and encourage them to do the same.  We need to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”

The practice of good citizenship does not end in the voting booth, it only begins there.

For far too long our citizens demonstrated apathy which emboldened elected representatives to all but ignore the needs of the average American citizen in a quest for massive campaign funds and the promises of votes to be ostensibly delivered by special interest groups.

I am encouraged that more and more of us, We the People, are not willing to simply sit on the sidelines anymore!

I believe our nation’s is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world.  However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda!

I also believe that the original purpose of our nation’s immigration laws need to be be brought “front and center” to make certain that our nation does not permit the entry of aliens into our country whose presence in our country is problematic for the citizens of our nation and that if such aliens do succeed in entering our country that our nation have the resources, integrity and dedication to do everything possible to make it impossible for such aliens to function within our country so that even if they are not apprehended, they will find it pointless to remain in the United States.
As I have noted on a number of occasions, “No one would break into the amusement park if they could not get to go on the rides and no one remains in the amusement park at the end of the day when they turn shut down the rides and turn off the lights!”

If our government’s failures to secure our nation’s borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Fast Track to Anarchy

In
a shocking display of disregard for the protection of innocent lives,
the Los Angeles Police Department has announced that it will ignore
California impound laws “amid concern of fairness to illegal
immigrants.”

According to a frustrating and worrisome news report aired by Fox
News on March 22, 2012, the LAPD will soon start ignoring a California
state law that requires police to impound vehicles of unlicensed drivers
for 30 days.

“The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants
who are in the country illegally and have low-income jobs. The LAPD says
the state’s impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to
get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back.”

Bottom line, the LAPD has taken the law of the State of California
into their own hands, arbitrarily deciding which laws to enforce.

There are so many things wrong with this decision that it boggles the mind!

First of all, invoking the issue of fairness turns reason on its
head. The immigration laws, at their core, are about fairness and have
two primary objectives: to protect American lives and protect American
jobs. Those laws are completely oblivious to race, religion or ethnicity
and draw on a single distinction: whether or not someone is a citizen
or an alien.

What could be fairer than that?

The harsh reality is that people are killed by unlicensed drivers
every day. A car in the hands of an unlicensed driver often becomes a
lethal weapon. If unlicensed pistol owners are subject to arrest and
prosecution, why should unlicensed drivers not be punished for their
offenses?

How fair is it for innocent victims to die at the hands of unlicensed motorists?

“It doesn’t matter to me who killed my son — what their nationality
was. It was the fact that if the law were followed, he’d be alive
today,” Dan Rosenberg told Fox News. His 25-year-old son, Drew, was
killed by an unlicensed driver in San Francisco, a city with lax impound
policies. The driver had previously been pulled over but was allowed to
retrieve his car after a short time just a few months before the
accident.

Are we living in such a mixed up, politically correct world where it
is more important to provide a ride to work to an illegal alien than it
is to protect Rosenberg’s son…and many others like him?

Our message to future illegal aliens is clear. Not only is our
federal government happy to place them on a “pathway to United States
citizenship,” as the President and other political leaders have often
stated, it is now clear that their presence in our country is so
welcomed that local police will now ignore important laws designed to
save lives simply to make life “fairer” for illegal aliens.

But what could be even scarier than those points (if that’s possible)
is the underlying direction of this policy. The U.S. is a nation of
laws where all people could and should expect equal protection under the
law. Laws are supposed to protect our safety and create order.

Laws are not supposed to be items on a menu where politicians and law
enforcement officers pick and choose what they like. In fact, the
opposite of the rule of law is anarchy, defined as “a state of
lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental
authority.”

What could come next?

We are standing on a slippery slope, indeed, and the recent decision
in California to not impound vehicles driven by unlicensed drivers
serves to slather ever more grease on that slope! Actions such as this
one put us on the fast track to anarchy.
